About

Hi, my name is Michael P. Homan. I was born in Mankato, MN and lived out my adolescent existence in the land of 10,000 lakes. Following high school, I spent one year touring with the non-profit organization Up With People in what was an immensely formative year of my life. I lived with over 90 different host families in 9 different countries, traveling with 140 other 18-25 year olds from 21 different nations.

Raised in the Roman Catholic Church, my faith was rooted in the historic creeds of the church and I found myself drawn to follow the Lord’s call and claim upon my life. After moving to Tulsa, OK to study vocal music at (insert deep breath), Oral Roberts University, I began to involve myself in student leadership activities and devoted my time to growing to be a fully-devoted follower of Jesus.

My journey to the Reformed tradition is rather unique and, quite honestly, I don’t think I would have wanted it to come about in any other way. In July of 2000 I married the love of my life and began working in Student Development at ORU while completing my Master of Divinity degree. In 2002 I began volunteering with student ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, where I had been singing as a scholarship singer in the Chancel Choir. I was subsequently hired part-time in 2003 to work with middle school students and one year later that part-time position turned full-time as the Director of Student Ministries. This later expanded to include University/Young Adult ministries and worship/music leadership for one of our three services. I have since been called to serve First Pres. Tulsa as the Associate Pastor of Next Generation Ministries, a journey that began in the Fall of 2007.

My wife Heather and I are the proud parents of Sarah and Andrew, both arriving in our arms by the miracle of adoption. We are learning to laugh much at ourselves as stewards of these two precious lives. In the meantime, I yearn for the world to come to know the grace and love of Jesus mysteriously available for all who would respond to this amazing grace and say “Yes Lord, I believe.”
